Class and Workshop Policies

For specific details about your class or workshop please refer to the workshop description. For private lesson policies, please click here.

Class Registration and Payments

Full payment must be received in advance to reserve your spot. Registrations can be made until the class is full anytime prior to the first session. Once a class is full you'll be invited to join a wait list in case a spot opens up.

All payment types are accepted through this website via Stripe or Paypal, or in person via cash or check. If you prefer to pay by check please contact me to let me know it's coming and to receive the correct mailing address. Spots are not reserved until payment has arrived.

Class Cancellations and Refunds

Class sizes are small and we rely on your commitment to green-light the class. A 50% nonrefundable deposit is included in your registration fee. If you withdraw from the class 3 days or more prior to the first session a 50% refund will be issued. No refunds can be given for withdrawals made within 3 days (72 hours) of the first day/session.

Please understand that even when a class has a waiting list it's difficult to fill spots at the last minute because people have made other plans. If you cannot attend you may transfer your spot to a friend or find another student to take your place. Please contact me within 2 days prior to the class to inform me of the transfer.

If a class does not meet the minimum enrollment to run you will be notified as soon as possible and you will receive a full refund. For those making travel plans to Portland, please check in with me to make sure the class has met the minimum before booking flights/hotel.

Please plan to attend all sessions of a workshop or class. Partial refunds for missed class time cannot be given. If you miss a class you may email the instructor to ask for a summary of what was covered.

Weather

In cases of severe inclement weather class will be canceled and a make-up date will be scheduled. Winter classes will typically go on as scheduled despite the presence of snow. Outdoor classes will be held as planned unless a full day of heavy rain is in the forecast. If we need to cancel a class for any reason a full refund will be issued.

Late Arrivals

Demonstrations are usually first on the agenda, so arriving late could mean that you’ll miss important material. Please plan to show up a few minutes early to set up and get comfortable before we start class.

Comfort

Depending on the class, we use chairs and upright easels or tables. Students are welcome to sit or stand as they prefer, or to bring their favorite chair/stool. If you require any specific accommodations please let us know in advance so we can set up the studio for your best comfort.

Studio Parking

Parking is available in the lots across the street on St. John St. and behind the building, as well as on the street.
